This page shows Sally Potter's idea of the usage of the sound: She wants the sound (both the soundtrack and the music) can fit with different historical era when Orlando stays. And through Rochelle's experiment, we can see applying different soundtrack to a same image can make the clip obtain different feelings. (Page 1)

This is the shooting script about the first scene which does not appear in film. Interestingly, though the plot of this scene changed, the use of music (the trumpet) got reserved in the first scene of "Orlando".

The shooting script about the scene when Orlando driving her daughter, which has a description about the sound. Though the plot is different from the final film, the idea of sound -- "collage" -- gets reserved.
