In this stage of the filmmaking process the blueprint for the final film is produced. This includes identifying key themes in the underlying story, drafting and re-drafting the script, preparing a pitch or treatment to present to potential financers. It can sometimes include preliminary location research and casting. Once financing for the film is secured – usually from a variety of sources, often both public and private – work can proceed into the pre-production period.
Here you will be able to see examples of draft and final scripts, presentation folders for finance pitches, casting auditions, storyboards, research on possible locations and proposals for set designs.
